A Pedigree of PURE GRIT
Memories we will always have: being able to share the experience with the people that are dearest to me and being uplifted by their words of encouragement at each stop never gets old.
It's a Family Affair
Crew meets runner: My eldest daughter, Lina, went with me to run our first trail marathon at just 14 years old while the other kids crewed for us. We learned a lot about each other that day.
Training for an ultramarathon might seem daunting when you're juggling carpool and bedtime stories, but that finish line victory is more than just a personal achievement. It's a testament to your resilience, discipline, and the healthy habits you're instilling for your entire family.
By prioritizing your well-being and carving out time for training, you'll return to your loved ones with renewed energy, a positive mindset, and the inspiration to lead by example. Remember, a happy and healthy you makes a happy and healthy family. So lace up your shoes and let's go!
I live my life by two rules:
1) Love family.
2) Work really freaking hard.
What a journey it has been!
I started running for the first time ever at 47 years old.
Yes. The first time ever.
When I ran that first mile, I had no idea that this is where it would lead me! It started with just a half marathon and quickly unraveled to reveal the most unsuspecting passion for doing the hard thing.
I remember what it was like to cross the finish line of my first ultra, the Crater 50k in Decorah, Iowa. My world was profoundly expanded. The ceiling I had lived under my whole life suddenly evaporated and I left that race a different person than when I had arrived.
I can't think of a cooler job than taking everything I've learned through races, training blocks, surgeries and setbacks and using it to support you while you crush your bold, hairy, audacious goals.
If you're ready to move the goal post, I'm ready to work with you. Whether you're looking to spice up your life with a new challenge or push yourself to new heights within your existing training regimen, I'm here for you!
I specialize in empowering runners to conquer their first ultramarathon or crush the next trail. I like to use a personalized approach, focusing on building a strong foundation through targeted training plans.
With Living Ultra Coaching, you'll gain the confidence, endurance, and mental grit to reach your ultra goals, all while prioritizing injury prevention and sustainable training. You're already ready for an ultra just by deciding that you want to get out there and see what is possible on the trails and beyond.
We should talk SOON
Some might call this avid research. Others might call it kind of nerdy. I call this leaving no stone unturned. If progress is what we're after, then it takes diligent learning and investigating to make it happen. Growth lives in the tiny little margins, the willingness to challenge ones thinking and the ability to find the answers to all the burning questions along the way.
I'm dogged on finding solutions.
1
Q: How many tries does it take until a person succeeds at their goal?
A: As many times as it takes.
There are no rules on how long progress should take! We will work together to build a sustainable plan that works within your lifestyle. I'm not into yelling or getting angry to get results. You want to build your body and mind, not join a sport to crush your soul.
If you're looking for a jerk, I'm not your guy.
2
I grew up with two sisters and a Mom. Now, I have three daughters and a wife. Paying attention to the details is a way of life around here! A coach who cares about the whole person and how a training block can influence even the smallest aspects of life can be hard to find.
Moral of the story: No question is a silly question and I encourage you to talk about all things training, building and race prep.
I talk. a. lot. I'm attentive to the smallest details.
